Website launch checklist

Use this checklist in the days before launch and on launch day. Go through it with whoever built your site, and keep a copy of the results.

Content and pages

• ☐All placeholder text and lorem ipsum removed.
• ☐Spelling, names, phone numbers, addresses and prices proofread.
• ☐Every page has a unique title and meta description.
• ☐Images are compressed and have alt text.
• ☐Favicon and social sharing image set.
• ☐Custom 404 page in place.

Forms and contact

• ☐Submit every form and confirm you receive the enquiry, and that the visitor sees a clear confirmation.
• ☐Test WhatsApp and phone links on a real phone.
• ☐Check spam protection works without blocking real people.
• ☐Forms that collect personal data link to the privacy policy and state the purpose. For PDPA, check current PDPC guidance.

Ecommerce (if relevant)

• ☐Place a real test order with each payment method, then refund it.
• ☐Shipping rates, taxes and delivery estimates are correct.
• ☐Order and customer emails send and look right.
• ☐Returns, shipping and terms pages are published.

Legal pages

• ☐Privacy policy and terms published and linked in the footer.
• ☐Business details (name, UEN where appropriate, contact) shown.
• ☐Cookie or analytics notice, if you use tracking.

SEO and tracking

• ☐Site is set to be indexable (staging “noindex” removed).
• ☐robots.txt does not block the site; XML sitemap is live.
• ☐Google Search Console verified and sitemap submitted.
• ☐GA4 installed with events for form submissions, WhatsApp and phone clicks.
• ☐Google Business Profile points to the new site.
• ☐301 redirects from old URLs are live (if replacing an existing site).

Technical

• ☐HTTPS works and http redirects to https.
• ☐www and non-www resolve to one version.
• ☐Tested on mobile and desktop, and in Safari, Chrome and at least one other browser.
• ☐Page speed checked on mobile.
• ☐Backups configured and restore tested if possible.
• ☐Admin accounts use strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available.
• ☐You hold the logins for domain, hosting, platform and analytics.

Day one after launch

• ☐Click through the live site again, including forms.
• ☐Check Search Console and analytics are receiving data.
• ☐Tell customers, update email signatures and social profiles.
• ☐Diarise a check one week and one month after launch.
